Wematter announced the launch of Aurora TPU material for its Gravity 2021 selective laser sintering 3D printer.

The company demonstrated this durable rubber-like material on TCT 3SIXTY this week. Aurora TPU is suitable for applications in the medical and automotive industries and is developed in close cooperation with manufacturers of outdoor power products, which are one of Wematter's largest customers. This material strengthens Wematter's material portfolio-which also includes PA12 and P11 products-and was launched after the company launched the latest version of the Gravity SLS system last year.

Wematter believes that allowing its users to print soft and flexible parts will further demonstrate the high-quality capabilities of its 3D printing system. Aurora TPU is a durable material, non-absorbent, resistant to ultraviolet rays, oils, greases and solvents. The material can also print parts with fine details and smooth surfaces while maintaining high wear resistance and wear resistance. This ability means that the material is suitable for printing gaskets, hoses, tires and shoe soles, as well as applications in the medical and healthcare fields.

"I think we can start with powder, and then get a rubber print with the soft characteristics that Aurora TPU now provides, which is really cool. This proves that Gravity has great potential as a platform and that the technical solution we chose is correct Method," commented Roert Kniola, Wematter founder and CEO. "We can process a wide range of materials, from very hard fiber reinforced rubber to very soft TPU.

"We will continue to explore this material group to develop more materials with the properties needed for elastomers. I am glad that we have chosen a sturdy and reliable power supply that can also handle white TPU or any other color you like. "
