Three fire crews, police and paramedics were sent to the scene

A road was closed after a fire ripped through a ground floor flat.

Emergency services were called to the blaze on Lower Breck Road in Anfield at around 10.30am on Wednesday, June 1. Three fire crews were sent to the scene and firefighters used high pressure hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service also attended and one person was taken to hospital after being assessed by paramedics at the scene.

Road closures were put in place and Arriva diverted buses via Priory Rd, Breck road, Belmont Rd, West Derby Rd, then back on to Lower Breck Rd. The road closures have now been lifted and traffic has returned to normal in the area.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue service said: "Crews were alerted at 10.26 and on scene at 10.30am. Three fire engines attended.

"On arrival, crews found a fire in a ground floor flat. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with high pressure hose reels. Crews then ventilated the property and completed home fire safety checks while in attendance.

"Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance at the incident. One person was assessed at the scene by paramedics and conveyed to hospital for further treatment. MFRS crews left the scene at 12.54pm."
