Press release from Housatonic Campus News:

The long-awaited exhibition "Drip-Drop, Tick-Tock, Here + Now" opened at the Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) on October 28, with a packed audience. Due to fires, floods and pandemics, after waiting for two years, people gathered to watch Weston and CT artist Joseph Fucigna's stunning but inspiring multimedia sculptures and paintings work.

"It finally happened," Fucigna said. "Didi is fire and flood, and the tick is Covid, now and now. I am very happy to be here. How often can you do a redo on the show?

The delay gives Fucigna time to experiment. In addition to his drape series offering sculptures of interwoven industrial materials, creating the illusion of fabrics, and his drip irrigation series inspired by silicone putty slipped from the wall, Fucigna now also shows the form of the hose series, stirred by everyday garden hoses.

Fucigna transforms everyday objects-metal fences, barbed wire, cable ties and garden hoses-into elegant, provocative and erotic abstractions.

"I hope the audience will not be afraid. I want it to be approachable, but I also want them to scratch their heads and say,'Well, I think I need to know some other things.' Hope they can come up with some answers, some discoveries, but also some questions," Fucigna said.

Some of these questions can be answered in the upcoming gallery talk with Fucigna at 1pm on November 13th. The speech will be held in an exhibition at the Burt Chernow Gallery in the Lafayette Hall of Housatonic Community College campus at HMA 900 Lafayette Avenue. In Bridgeport. The presentation was conducted as part of City Wide Open Studios.

"Joe Fucigna's work is rooted in the fertile soil of art history and appears in a completely new form," said Robbin Zella, curator of the Housatonic Art Museum. "It attracts the audience through his choice of materials and humor."

The closing reception of the exhibition will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, December 8.

Visitors must be prepared to comply with social distancing rules and wear protective masks. To plan a visit, please call 203-332-5052 or check the museum's website www.HoustaonicMuseum.org.
