June has called the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach home for almost one year.

She is a 3-year-old mixed breed dog who shelter leaders said was an owner surrender from a family with young kids.

“She even came in with her fingernails painted,” Mara Gleason, the shelter’s marketing coordinator said. “Little kids love her.”

Other than getting loved on, June enjoys water and spending the afternoon splashing in an inflatable pool, which our WPBF 25 News team saw firsthand when visiting the shelter.

“We call her a water bug,” Gleason said. “She loves sprinklers, hoses, pools; she just goes crazy in water.”

June needs to be the only pet in her forever home and Gleason said that and her size are the reason she is still waiting for a family to adopt her.

“Sometimes they can be intimidated thinking that they are violent or that there is something wrong with them that they ended up in the shelter, which really isn’t true,” Gleason said. “Most of the dogs here are here through no fault of their own.”

June’s adoption is sponsored by Dolly's Dream, meaning the adoption fee is waived and she will be sent home with a care basket full of supplies for her new family.
