Gates announced the launch of a new thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) tape, called Gates Parabolic Pitch (GPP), with 8mm and 14mm profiles. Compared with other alternatives (including alternative rubber belts, roller chains and steel cables), the new GPP belts are stronger, more durable, quieter, safer to operate, and require less maintenance.

High-strength, reinforced steel (RSL) GPP 14-RSL has the highest breaking strength of any 14 mm pitch TPU belt, and the standard product version is compatible with Timken’s RPP® sprockets, making it a wide range of suitable Plug-in alternative applications. Gates GPP belt is equipped with nylon fabric on the tooth side, which has high wear resistance and quieter operation. The optional low temperature structure provides an operating range of -30 °C to +50 °C. The GPP conveyor belt complements Gates’ existing TPU conveyor belt series and provides reliable and precise operation in a wide range of industrial applications, including intralogistics, material handling, vertical lifting, door opening and industrial automation.
